Where is lottas fountain
After the Earthquake and Fire the fountain became a gathering point for survivors. Names of the dead, the missing, and the found were posted. On Christmas Eve, Luisa Tetrazzini sang at the fountain.
Every year since, on April 18, at AM, well into the 21st Century, the survivors have gathered in remembrance. Oh, how we loved Lotta Crabtree and Lola Montez. As much as we were later to love Janis Joplin and Grace Slick.
Her mother proceeded to abscond with her, and with a young Italian entertainer named Mart Taylor. The threesome played in saloons, gambling houses, and lowlife dives throughout Northern California. Lotta developed a song-and-comedy routine to go with her dancing, and soon became California's most revered entertainer during a career that spanned several decades.
She lived a wild life, never married, survived to the age of seventy-seven, and left a fortune of four million dollars. And a fountain. Document Next Document. I have a ceramic set that I am wondering if it has any connection to Lotta Crabtree. I have been unable to find out anything at all about it.
It is a toilet set with the name Lotta on the bottom. The name is on a banner with the L in the shape of a tree limb.
Perhaps signifying a tree, Crabtree. Or could this set have been commissioned for her? Or do you know where I could find this out? Any information would be helpful. Sincerely Leslie Howard.
